Gary's 1939 Dodge

We started this project with just the left and right sides of the body that were cut off above the doors and below the rockers, and the owners dream.

Pretty much everything else has been hand made. Gary, a former architect, had a "what if" Dodge had built a car based loosely on a AutoUnion type C.

So he set out to design it. His version has independent front and rear suspension, a modern Hemi, backed by a Porsche transaxle. The handmade aluminum grille, hides the headlights.

Behind them are the radiator, A/C condenser, air duct to move the hot air out and the fuel tank. All which is covered by a handmade hood and side panels. The windshield was split in the middle, kind of has an early aircraft look.

A custom made dash, twin British bucket seats and interior panels made from aluminum from top to bottom all covered in tan leather by Gary. Behind the cockpit, the second firewall has another split window. The Hemi and trans can be on display by opening the rear doors, a very co feature.

At the back is a total handmade side opening rear hatch. Again with split windows a single taillight and recessed tag. Loovers run above the engine compartment to let the heat out. They were cut , starting narrow and widening as the go back.atching loovers were cut into the hood also.

It rides on coilovers and 17" wire wheels. Gary has been a large part in this project. Being an architect, he would bring us many drawing to go over and collectively decide on the "right" design. He also made life sized foam mockups of parts and body panels. This car is awesome, mean, and unique.
